What is bandwidth and energy?
Energy and bandwidth on the TRON network are system resources used for transactions and the execution of smart contracts.:
1. The bandwidth represents the bytes of a transaction. For example, if the transfer transaction is 250 bytes, it will consume 250 bandwidth.
2. Energy represents the time spent on smart contract execution. For example, if smart contract execution consumes 100 μs, it consumes 100 energy.
How to get bandwidth and energy?
There are three methods to obtain bandwidth and energy
Method 1: Rent with TRX (Recommended)

Option 1: One-Tap Energy Rental
In imToken 2.15.6 or later, on the USDT transfer page select “Pay TRX to rent energy.” Send the energy-rental transaction. Once the energy arrives, proceed to send your USDT transfer—rent + transfer in one go. (View tutorial) -
Option 2: On-Demand Energy Rental
On the TRON wallet home screen, tap “Rent” to open Feee.io. Enter the energy amount and rental period you need, then tap “Pay” to complete the rental. (View tutorial)
Method 2: Burn TRX
Transfer 50-100 TRX into your TRX wallet and when making transactions, a small amount of TRX will be burned to provide the bandwidth and energy required for the transaction.
Method 3: Stake TRX
On the TRON wallet homepage, swipe left on the feature bar and tap “Resource. Select Energy or Bandwidth, enter the amount of TRX to stake, and submit the transaction. It is recommended to stake at least 13,500 TRX. For the latest resource cost, refer to the official TRONSCAN Resource Calculator.
Staked TRX can be unstaked at any time, but you have to wait 14 days and manually retrieve the funds.
Note: Stake 1.0 no longer supports staking and only supports unstaking. To retrieve TRX staked in Stake 1.0, tap “Unfreeze TRX in V1 Staking” on the “Resource” page.
Note:
1. Some transactions consume Energy, such as smart contract calls, including TRC-20 token transfers and DApp interactions.
2. Energy and Bandwidth obtained through staking gradually recover within 24 hours after being consumed.
