imToken will support the upcoming Ethereum Fusaka upgrade. You don’t need to take any action.
The upgrade is expected to activate at slot 13,164,544 on December 4, 2025 (UTC+8). It includes the Osaka upgrade on execution-layer and the Fulu upgrade on consensus-layer—together known as Fusaka.
Key changes:
1. PeerDAS (EIP-7594): Cheaper, faster L2s
PeerDAS is the most significant change in this upgrade. Instead of downloading full blobs, nodes verify data availability through sampling, greatly increasing Ethereum’s ability to process L2 data.
This allows rollups such as Arbitrum, OP, and Base to scale more efficiently. For users, this means faster L2 transactions and lower fees.
2. Staged increase in blob capacity (EIP-7892)
After PeerDAS is enabled, Ethereum will gradually raise blob capacity through BPO1 and BPO2:
- BPO1: increases target / max blobs per block from 6/9 → 10/15
- BPO2: further raises them to 14/21
Higher blob capacity directly reduces L2 data storage costs, enabling more rollup data to be posted to Ethereum at lower cost—an essential driver for lower gas fees and larger-scale applications.
3. L1 scaling: Gas limit raised to 60M (EIP-7935)
The previous L1 gas limit restricted transaction throughput, causing congestion and fee volatility. Fusaka increases the L1 block gas limit to 60M, allowing more transactions per block. Execution-layer ModExp optimizations (EIP-7823/7883) further improve performance while maintaining security.
4. A more modern and secure signature option: secp256r1 (EIP-7951)
Ethereum previously supported only secp256k1. Major secure hardware modules—such as Apple Secure Enclave, Android Keystore, and FIDO2/WebAuthn—use secp256r1.
With native secp256r1 precompile support, users can rely on built-in mobile secure hardware for signing, unlocking a more intuitive and more secure account experience.
5. Additional improvements for developers and the ecosystem
- CLZ instruction (EIP-7939) to lower ZK application costs
- eth/69 protocol update (EIP-7642) to streamline historical data and improve node sync
- Per-transaction gas limit (EIP-7825) to enhance DoS resistance
