Following recent U.S. law enforcement news that raised concerns over non-custodial wallet private key randomness, we clarify that all imToken software wallet and imKey hardware wallet users remain unaffected.
imToken Software Wallet
imToken uses the system-provided secure random source on iOS and Android to generate private keys locally, ensuring high randomness and unpredictability. Its core codebase, TokenCore, has been open-sourced and publicly auditable since 2018. Private keys are never transmitted over any network.
imKey Hardware Wallet
imKey generates mnemonic phrases or private keys within its secure chip using a built-in True Random Number Generator (TRNG), ensuring uniqueness and unpredictability for a stronger security foundation.
Securing Your Private Keys
As non-custodial wallets, imToken and imKey are designed to safeguard users’ private keys and never store any private keys or mnemonic phrases.
We also advise all wallet users to properly back up their mnemonic phrase, keep it physically isolated, and never take screenshots, store it online, or share it with anyone.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at support@token.im. imToken remains committed to providing a secure and user-friendly wallet experience.
